Alexian Brothers Provincial Archives
The year 1973 was significant in the annals of the Alexian Brothers because it marked the beginning of a three year project to research and write the history of the Congregation. To prepare for this important undertaking, Brother Gregory Isenhart was appointed Provincial Archivist for the Immaculate Conception Province, and he deserves much credit for the basis on which the present Provincial Archives is built.
Our collection consists of both the religious and corporate aspects of the organization, including but not limited to correspondence, minutes, reports, manuals and guides, publications, external publicity, and photographs. A valuable adjunct to the archives is the Ministry Museum. The artifacts presented in exhibits on Alexian Brothers Heritage, Spirituality, and Ministry make the records come alive. These objects have been gathered from Alexian Brothers facilities, particularly from the Chicago, St. Louis, and Elizabeth hospitals.
